Mal|tese «mol TEEZ, -TEES», noun, plural -tese, adjective.

1. a person born or living in Malta, an island in the Mediterranean, south of Sicily.
2. the native language of Malta. It is a form of Arabic with many Italian words.
3. any one of a breed of small dogs with long, silky, white hair and usually weighing between 2 and 7 pounds. It was popular as a lap dog among well-to-do Greeks and Romans.
